Mississippi State University
Project Overview
Our work with Mississippi State University involved the construction of a new facility, requiring extensive mechanical and prefabrication expertise. Upchurch provided project management, preconstruction, prefabrication, and new construction services, utilizing cutting-edge technology and planning to ensure efficient project execution.
Our Approach
Upchurch leveraged advanced construction methodologies and prefabrication expertise to streamline the project, including:
- BIM-Driven Preconstruction: Utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) to coordinate system planning, identify RFIs early, and eliminate potential conflicts before construction began.
- Prefabrication for Efficiency: Used BIM to prefabricate pipe, valve, and fitting (PVF) assemblies, as well as overhead ductwork, VAVs, and piping packages, reducing installation time and increasing precision.
- Pre-Coordinated Frame Openings: Ensured seamless integration with the building structure by pre-coordinating all frame openings before on-site installation.
- Strategic Scheduling & Coordination: Successfully advanced work while awaiting electrical and general contractor scopes to be completed, demonstrating flexibility and efficiency in project management.
Outcome
We successfully delivered a highly coordinated and efficient mechanical installation for Mississippi State University. The project resulted in:
- Optimized project timelines through advanced BIM utilization and prefabrication.
- Increased efficiency and reduced on-site labor through pre-built components.
- A seamless integration of mechanical systems with minimal disruption to overall construction.
- A well-coordinated effort ensuring long-term system performance and reliability.
